Should the govt issue vouchers to buy new cars instead of bailing out the big 3?

new cars

I heard somebody suggest that the govt should issue $10,000 vouchers to people to buy new cars instead of bailing out the auto industry. The industry would then have to give the govt back a share of their profits from the deal. This sounds like an interesting way to jump start the economy…and I could use a new car. Thoughts???
